Problem (The Why)
How might we design to encourage people to build a sustainable reading practice that fits into the way they live today?
People have more ways to read than ever, yet many people struggled to make reading a part of their everyday routine. Existing platforms were largely optimized for finding, buying , borrowing and consuming books rather than helping people build a consistent reading habit. Secondary research also revealed a broader shift toward shorter, faster forms of content, while user interviews helped in uncovering what that shift meant at an individual level.
Research (The How)
Research combined competitive analysis and user interviews to understand how existing reading platforms fall short of supporting reading habits. Findings highlighted recurring challenges around consistency, time, format, and personalization, shaping the direction for a more adaptable reading experience.
Solution (The What )
A reading experience that adapts to the reader. The concept shifts the reading platform from content library to a personalized reading environment. AI enables the experience to adapt to individual goals, interest and habits, creating a more flexible approach to content consumption.
Impact
Prototype testing explored how Reada's features could support reading habits. Participants felt that daily goals could help them stay on track, Quick Reads could make reading more manageable, and personalized and immersive formats was interesting way to explore different ways of reading that can be made more engaging.
